Nintendo’s 3DS Not Intended for Younger Children

21 Jun

Kotaku ran a story last week, Nintendo Testing Healthiness of 3DS, Advising Young Children to Avoid 3DS, that alerted parents to the potential danger of the Nintendo 3DS, the new DS that allows 3D play without glasses, on young eyes. We know how many little ones play the DS and carry it around with them everywhere. Well, the 3DS is a gadget those seven and under can’t use.

According to Kotaku, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said:

“We will recommend that very young children not look at 3D images,” he said. “That’s because, [in] young children, the muscles for the eyes are not fully formed… This is the same messaging that the industry is putting out with 3D movies, so it is a standard protocol. We have the same type of messaging for the [1990s Nintendo virtual reality machine] Virtual Boy, as an example.”

The Nintendo 3DS is said to arrive in stores before March 2011. Here’s video from E3 to check it out if you missed the news about the most sought-after device coming out of E3.
